Wind power plant in Zhambyl region - Feasibility Study

On September 18, 2020, a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation was signed with the Akimat of the Zhambyl Region.

Work was carried out to collect initial data during the temporary placement of wind measuring masts with metrological equipment to assess the wind potential of the region. Two masts were installed.

A feasibility study was developed for the investor.

Additionally, the following consulting services were provided: Leading Wind Measurement Campaign, Land Use Rights, Pre-Environmental Impact Assessment, Legal and Government Relations support with Regional Administrations  and other Key Stakeholders, Turn-key Administrative Support, Management of Outsourced Subcontractors for Engineering services, Supporting GIS services.

Founded in 2012, Total Eren is a specialized subsidiary of EREN Groupe, engaged in renewable energy, a leading player in the field of resource efficiency. Total Eren is an independent power producer (IPP) that develops, finances, invests in, builds and operates renewable energy power plants (solar, wind, hydroelectric power plants) around the world in the long term. Since December 2017, Total S.A., a key player in the energy sector, has been a shareholder of Total Eren.

One of such major Projects of the company, planned for implementation within the framework of the Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be the construction of a wind power plant with a capacity of 1 GW with an energy storage system of 300 MWh-600 MWh in the Zhambyl region (Mirny settlement).

On June 9, 2022, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC Samruk-Kazyna, JSC NC KazMunayGas and Total Eren S.A signed an Agreement on principles for the project for the construction of a wind power plant with a capacity of 1 GW (WPP) in the Zhambyl region. The WPP project will be implemented in stages. Full completion of the project is planned for the period from 2024 to 2026.

On December 9, 2022, an agreement was concluded with Total Eren S.A. on the transfer of relevant equipment and design documentation for this project.
